CHAPTER1:

buck was born in the santa Clara Valley in california.The name of the house:Judge Miller's Place. He is four when the story begins. Gold was found in the Northlands. Lots of men went there.So a lot of sleds were needed and dogs to draw them...Manuel, the gardner took buck with him and sold him. In San Francisco he was sold to another man and by train he was taken to Seattle.



CHAPTER2:

The man in the red sweater sold him to Perrault for $300. Curly and Buck were taken by boat from the warm Southland to the cold Northland. Francois and Perrault were his new masters, they were fair. On the boat Spitz an Dave, also dogs, become friends with Buck.



CHAPTER3:

Curly died ina fight with other dogs. Buck learnes to fight back and never to go down. There were five dogs in the team. Spitz was the leader. The dogs slept outside in the snow in a hole that they dug out. At lake bennett lots of men were building boats to go up the rivers for gold at springtime.



CHAPTER4:

Buck fought with spitz because he had taken his place in his nest. Spitz bit him in his throat. Lots of half-wild dogs from an indian village had entered and eaten all there food. The thirty Mile river was not frozen. The water was too wild. It took them 6 days to go. It was 50 degrees fahrenheit below 0. Francois made four moccasins(sort of shoes)for Buck because his feet were to soft.Dolly went mad and Francois had to kill him. Spitz caught a rabbit by taking a clever route. Buck fought with spitz by moving to him shoulder to shoulder. Then he suddenly bit him in his forleg, first left, then right. After bitting, he broke it.



CHAPTER5:

Buck was a good fighter. He wanted to be the leader. Francois had already dicided that sol-leks, the one eyed dog, would do that. Buck was finnaly put in first. They did 60 miles in one day. The jouney takes 10 days.



CHAPTER6:

Buck was sold to other peoples. They went to dawson. They had to transport mail. The team had 100 dogs in it. Dave was getting very weak. He couldn't do his work anymore and was shot. Buck somethimes thought of his past. The big house in the santa Clara Valley. But very often he toughts of memories of his forfathers.



CHAPTER7:

The trip from Dawson to Skaguay took them 30 days. In about 5 months they travelled 2500 miles. During the last 1800 miles there were only 5 days of rest. There were new owners of the team. Hal and charles. Mercedes was charles wife en hal's sister. They did everything in a carreless way. It's springtime. Hal whips the dogs. The loads were to heavy for the dogs. Mercedes stops Hal from whipping. The sled was frozen fast so hal broke it out. Hal and charles took some more dogs. Very tired they started the next morning. They gave the dogs too much food. The dogs were not strong enough so every day they didn't reached far enough. Billy coudn't go on anymore. He fall and was killed with an axe. One night they reached John thornton's camp. Hal knew that the trail was bad because spring was coming. Thornton thought hal was a fool. Hal beat buck very badly. John thornthon came in between and rescued buck. Hal went away with the rest of the team and they all drowned. The bottom had dropped out of the trail.



CHAPTER8:

John thornton was alone because he was recovering from frozen feet. buck was very wounded at first. Skeet and Nig were John's dogs. They were kind to him. Buck likes John thornton because he saved his life. He also met love for the first time. Buck often took John thornton hand in his mouth and then made marks in it. Buck never gave an enemy a second chance.



CHAPTER9:

In circle city there was a fight between buck and a stranger. Thornthen stepped between them. He was hit by Burton. Buck jumped at burton and buck saved Thornthon. At another occation Buck jumped into the river twice and could save his master. Thornthon made a bet about buck. He could draw 1000 pounds of weight. He could win $1000. He could also sell his dog for $1200. He just took the bet and won.



CHAPTER10:

John thornton and hos friends pete and Hans go to the east. They want to look fot gold. John thornton only took a handfull of salt and a rifle into the wild. When spring comes again the didn't find a mine, but a valley ahere there was a lot of gold. They put the gold in leathet sacks. Buck dreams of going away with a primative man into the wild. One night he hears a howling sound. It was a wolf. He became friendly with him. Now and then he went into the forrest and stayed away for some days. Buck is very good at hunting. He is very patient. He once stayed with a moose for 4 days until he was tired out. Buck discovered thet John thornton's camp must have been attacked. Dogs were lying around dead. Indians dancing about. Buck killed a few of them. He followed John thornton's blood trail to the lake...He knew he was dead but didn't see his body. Then buck heard some sound from the wild. He had some fights with wolves. he won them all. He will always remember John thornton. He was the only man who held him back fron going to the wild.
