Book report
1) The author is Morton Rhue, this is not his real name. His real name is Todd Strasser. He grew up in New York and also studied there. He has his own small company, wich produces fortune cookies. He, his wife and there children live in New York. He likes to write books and articles, but there is only one book written by him in the bookstores, which is 'The Wave'. This book was published in 1981. The Wave is based on a true incident at a school in California, wich took place in 1969.
2) The Wave is based on a true incident in a high school history class in Palo Alto, California. The teacher Ben Ross gets a question while they are talking about the second World War. He doesn't know the answer and gets an idea about how he may explain why you can't tell the answer, but you have to feel the answer. It's a kind of experiment. He developed a group named: The Wave and their motto was: strength through discipline, community and action. The kids became little soldiers and also little Nazis. If you will not join the wave, you will get punished. If you will not listen to the Wave-members you will get punished. It's getting out of control and Ron decided to bring the Wave together in a drill-hall. They will see their leader. And the meaning behind their actions saw Adolf Hitler on the tv screen and everyone noticed that the were just like the soldiers/Nazis in 1939 till 1945.

5) It is the outcome of the whole story. And it is a nice outcome too. Because you see Adolf Hitler on the big tv-screen with everybody next to you. And everybody sensed that this whole idea was an experiment. That's why this is my favourite fragment. The copy of this fragment is on the last page.
6) I have choosen the song 'Where is the love' from The Black Eyed Peas, This song is about everything what is wrong in this world. And that is why the titel of this song is a question about love. And that is 'Where is the love'.

I have choosen this song, because it is about discrimnation, racism and being afraid.

The Title of his letter was: Welcome to the Wave – or Else...
What he means to say is that if you won't join The Wave you wil get punished or something like that.
7) I'm taking an interview from Brad, a classmate of Robert, Amy and Laurie.
Q: How did you feel, when Ross told you about your 'leader'?
A: I was devestated. It was the first time in my life that I thought that there was something big happening. But when Adolf Hitler appears, I felt empty inside and also betrayed.
Q: What do you think about 'The Wave' experiment retrospectively?
A: I think that is was a good experiment for all of us, because now we know how it felt to be a Nazi and how it was like in the war.
Q: There was a moment that Laurie wants to go to the tribune and you didn't let her pass. You also sad it wasn't a big deal, to bring the Wave salute. So, why didn't you let her get up there?
A: Seriously, I have no idea. I think I was in a kind of trance and all what I did was thinking about 'The Wave'. I had to see that she did The Wave salute, because everybody could see that The Wave is the best there is and that everybody could see, that everybody is the same.
Q: How is your relationship with your classmates after 'The Wave'
A: I think it is better then before. I don't bully Robert any more and the sphere in the class is also much better. I even do all my homework now!
Q: After all this was happend, how do you feel about the Nazis now?
A: I still think that they were terrible people and they are a shame for mankind. But maybe a little bit less then before the experiment, because I can imagine how they felt like in the war, with the pressure of Adolf Hitler.
8) I haven't heared about the book before I read it. It is a very special book because it was a story that realy happend and the results were staggering. It was quite easy written except for a few parts.
When I read it, I found it hard to belief that is was already happen. Especially, because a simple history teacher can reach so much, just by saying powerfull things.For example, when you join The Wave, just because you are afraid and everybody is joining The Wave. That is why Laurie is so stong, she did not join The Wave and started an uprising.
9) Despite Ben Ross thought everything through, is there something to complaine about. Students went there own life and started fights with student who weren't Wave members. If I were Ben Ross, I would not let this happen. And if it did, I would punnish those people who started the fight.
10) I didn't realize that it is so easy to control people. So when it happens in my historyclass, I will to stop mister Tennekes before it is to late!
