Summary:
Alex is on holiday in the south of France (Montpellier) with Sabina (his best girlfriend) and her parents. When he is laying on the beach he sees a boot, on that boot there isYassen Gregorovich with his mates. Alex knows that he is a killer and he is going to follow him. When he hears Yassen say “We’ll do it this afternoon” he knows something is going to happen. But then Alex thinks that it is not his business because he is on holiday.
When he is going home the house of Sabina’s parents is burning. At that point he knows Yassen is behind of this.
The next day he sees the boat of Yassen and goes on board. When Alex sees Yassen he holds a gun against Yassen’s head. Then a pair of hands seized Alex and Yassen is thinking what he has to do with Alex.
Because Alex didn’t shoot Yassen, Yassen decides that Alex would become a matador for once. Yassen thinks that Alex is going to die with the bullfight but Alex escapes.
When Alex is back in England he tells Sabina the truth about the house and that is was bombed, but she can’t believe the story. He is going to prove it to her and they are going to the building of MI6, but they can’t find it. When Sabina walks away from Alex somebody talks behind him. It is Mrs Jones from MI6.
When he enters the building of MI6 Mr Blunt says to Alex that is wasn’t Yassen behind the explosion from the house in the south of France. Alex can’t believe this and he starts his own investigation.
Alex sees an artikel in a newspaper about Damian Cray, the man who Yassen works for. Cray has designed a new gamecomputer. When Alex is there he has to try the new gamecomputer.
Later on Jack (a friend of Alex) and Alex are going to Paris to talk with a fotograph. This man has worked a lot with Edward Pleasure, the father of Sabina. The fotograph is telling to them that Damian Cray is in Amsterdam. At that moment two men came into the room and killed the fotograph who was working for the NSA, the National Security Agency of America. Alex could escape. When Alex arrives in Amsterdam he sees a van from Damian Cray. He goes into the van, nobody has seen this.When he is in the building he sees Cray talking with Roper and an another man. Cray says that he has killed the fotograph and Alex heard that. After that Cray killed Roper because he wasn’t honest to him. Cray says that Eagle Strike starts in two days. Alex don’t know what it is and he has heard enough. When he goes outside someone has seen him and he can’t escape anymore.
He must play the newcomputergame of Damian Cray and his own person is in it. Damian Cray thinks that Alex dies in the game but Alex can escape with a lot of luck. Than he sees the flash drive and he takes it with him. Without the flash drive Eagle Strike can’t start. Cray has told to all of his men that Alex is escaped and when he finds Alex he will kill him by him self, without mercy.
They can not find Alex anymore because he is on his bike wich was a gift from Smithers who works for MI6 to. The bike wasn’t a normal bike. There are missiles on it and inside the bike pump there was a smokescreen.
Yassen and Cray are thinking how they could find Alex. When Yassen knows that Sabina is Alex best girlfriend they are kidnapping Sabina and take her to an hospital in London.
When Alex sees an artikel in a newspaper about Sabina he knows something is wrong. When he reads that Sabina is kidnapped he knows that it was Damian Cray who has done this because Cray knows that Alex has the flash drive. When he is at home he sees a television in the livingroom, with on top of it an webcam. When Alex turned the webcam on he sees Cray with Sabina. Cray says that he wants the flash drive back before ten O’clock the next day.
When Alex arrives by the house of Cray he would not give the flash drive to Cray. Then Cray hurts Sabina and Alex has no choice, so he gives the flash drive to Cray.
At that time Cray is happy again and he wants to drink a cup of tee with Alex and Sabina. When Cray is telling Alex about his live Alex heard something special. Cray wants to save a lot of people by killing many people. He tells that Eagle Strike is an operation with 25 nucleair missiles. The missiles must explode by drugsupplies around the whole globe. The flash drive is the key to activate the missiles.
After that Alex and Sabina are going to Heathrow with Cray and a few more men. They want to steel the Air Force One, because there is fire on board it works. They pretent that they are firefighters. When they are inside the plane they shoot on everyone so everybody is dead. Now, Cray has Air Force One. He wants the plane because he can launch al the nucleair missiles from here.
When he has pushed the button all the 25 missiles were launched. After that Cray tells Yassen that he must kill Alex and Sabina. Yassen says that he can’t kill children. Then Cray shoot at Yassen and Yassen falls down. Later he shoot at Alex and Alex falls down. But when he wants to shoot Sabina, Alex seized him from behind. Alex weared a bulletproof jack. When they have Cray, Sabina pushed on the button self-destruct, the missiles are destroyed. Because there was a great gap in the plane Cray flew through the air and landed in the engine of the plane, he was dead. Then Yassen speaks to Alex, apperently he is not dead. He says that Alex father was a killer to and Yassen and the father of Alex worked together in the past. After he has said this he died because of all his injures.
When he speaks with Mrs Jones, she asked Alex what Yassen has said to him before he died. Now Alex knows that his father was a killer. Sabina tells Alex that she goes to the USA. Alex thinks that he will never see her again.
Main characters:
- Alex: Alex is a boy who worked for MI6, the British military intelligence. He is 14 years old and trained to be a spy. His uncle has trained him. He has never known his father. Sabina is his best girlfriend.
- Sabina: Sabina is the best girlfriend from Alex and she is often with Alex.
Explanation of the title: The book title is Eagle Strike because Eagle Strike is an operation from the bad guy Damian Cray. The whole book goes about the operation.
Explanation of the main theme: The main theme is that Alex discoveres Damian Cray (the great singer) is a man who wants to save the world. All the time Alex thought that Cray is a bad guy and kills people for his own pleasure, but Cray didn’t. He kills people to make the world better (that is what Cray thinks).
Beginning: The book begins with a holiday for Alex and Sabina in the south of France. When Alex sees Yassen he knows something bad would happen.
Ending: Sabina tells Alex that she will go to the USA. Alex thinks that he will never see her again when she goes to the USA.
Explanation of the climax: The climax in the book is when Cray pushed on the button and 25 missiles had gone into the air. This is the climax because this is what scares Alex all the time since he knows what Eagle Strike is. Now Alex must save the world.
My own opinion: It was an exciting book to read because I like story’s with a little tension. It was a pleasure to read this book. Especialy the part when Alex is in the plane with Damian Cray and Yassen is nice.
