SUMMARIZE THE STORY OF METROLAND

Chris and Toni are good friends. They are adolescents, because they are about 15 years. After school, they do many things together. When Chris is 19 years old he leaves Metroland and he goes to Paris to see the New World grow. He met there Annick and after a month he starts a love affair with Annick. With Annick, it is the first time he did it (you know what I mean). He also met there Dave, Mickey and Marion. After the meeting with Marion, he talks with his girlfriend Annick. They going quarrelling about Marion and Annick leaves Chris forever. Chris starts then a love affair with Marion. Chris and Marion go back to Metroland. Marion and Chris got married and got a child called Amy. He starts to work as copywriter. He met Toni again, but now he realised Toni is a troublemaker. He did not many things with Toni anymore. At last, he has a meeting at his old school. He see there all his old classmates. The book ends, with that he is looking out of the window in the night.

MY OPINION

This was a difficult book, but it was a good book, because the book sketch a good picture about growing up and adolescents. But this book is dull and superficial. My opinion about Julian Barnes is: he is a good writer, but also a dull writer. He is a good writer, because he can sketch (in this book) a good picture about the characters. The characters are exactly as people in the daily live. But the book is very difficult. Julian is a dull writer too, because there is nothing happened in the story. That is also why my summarise about the story is so short. The book also dull, because the book is superficial.
